Comments: I have been doing alot of researching trying to trace the connection in the Boone line to the Southwestern Greene County Pennsylvania bunch. My Grandfather was Joseph D. Boone and his father William. It seems to end there. Just happened to find this web page by accident. Maybe information here that will help me. Sure great to see someone trying to put it all together. Keep up the good work.

Comments: The newly-designed website is outstanding, informational, and page friendly. Thanks, Jeff Johnson! I descend from Hannah Boone, youngest sister of Dan’l Boone, and will be speaking at the Florida Genealogical Society meeting tomorrow as I present “Our Colonial Boone Family and Uncle Dan’l”. It is a thirty-minute show and tell production. My trivia question to the group will be “Who wore the coon-skin cap?” and usually the incorrect answer is given. That leads into my story. Needless to say, I will have Boone Society, Inc. business cards with me with website information on them and encourage membership. Contacts with any who wish to share genealogy about the HANNAH BOONE STEWART PENNINGTON lineage are appreciated. I always like meeting new-found “cousins.” Although I have the Boone-Pennington lineage, the Boone-Stewart descendants are also participants when we give presentations at Old Mulkey Meetinghouse State Park, KY where Hannah’s gravestone is set and the family honored. Comments: Hello S. Sherman….”Our Boone Families-Daniel Boone’s Kinfolks” was compiled and published by Sarah Ridge Rockenfield in 1987. Since then she and her husband have passed away and the publisher, Whipporwill Publications of Evansville, IN requires a large minimun pre-paid order before they will re-print the book. The book is about 1,000 pages, so it’s not likely to be re-printed anytime soon.
Both Rockenfield and Spraker’s books have her listed as Sarah Boone, and doesn’t mention the middle name Cassandra. Has that been documented and can you cite it? Thanks, Dell Boone Ariola VP-The Boone Society

Comments: I have a friend that will no doubt be contacting you soon, as to his Boone lineage. He is also a descendant of Benjamin Franklin his name is David Franklin. The closest tie I have to you folks is that I was born in Elverson, just down the creek that forms the lake on the Boone Homestead. The Little section of the outskirts was referred to as Bulltown. It is at the cross roads of PA401 and PA23, I’m told that it used to be a blacksmith shop and of course George Washington would have his horse shawed there and he even slept there well you know how urban legends go.. It is such a shame I lived there from birth until age nine and never visited the Homestead. I will have to make a trip there when I am visiting my family in Reading. I now live in Moss Beach CA. Thanks for the wonderful informational site. Francis L. Young

She never mentioned how many other brothers there were! How many direct descendants and how many cousins are there by now? Born in 1879, my father was Edwin Theodore Porter Boone, son of Josiah Achen Boone and Martha Linereaux Wilson of Georgetown, S. C. Josiah and his two brothers, James and George, owned “Boone Land” in Robeson County, N. C., where I was born in 1921 and grew up.

Comments: An amazing, informative and classy site! Anybody interested in genealogy or history would truly be touched by the lives of the Boone and related families. I was told by my father, who was told by his grandfather, that one of our descendants came to Kentucky through the Cumberland Gap with Daniel Boone. I am searching for a source that would have information of people who traveled from North Carolina to Kentucky to settle. Keep up the great work of putting a part of our heritage for all Americans to see!

Comments: I am interested in information on the James Boone massacre in South West Virginia. One of James’ companions was a boy named Samuel Drake.
I have scanned images of newspaper articles from the time and two depositions from the Thomas Gage collection. Those can be seen at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~drakerobinson From the main menu, follow Family History then Other Related Articles and Documents. I believe there was a newspaper article from Wilmington NC I would love to see. I have also heard that Daniel Boone wrote a narrative concerning his son’s death. Does anyone know where I can find that. Thanks Don Drake

Comments: Descendent of Daniel Morgan Boone’s daughter Susannah and William Hays through their son Boone Hays and Lydia Ann Scholl (a daughter of Levina Boone and Joseph Scholl). Their youngest son Upton Hays (1832-1862) married Margaret Jane Watts (1836-1923). Their oldest daughter Mary Elizabeth Hays (1856-1944) married Thomas Lee Moutrey (1847-1927). Their daughter Margaret May Moutrey (1881-1973) married Lewis Farmer Franklin (1849-1921). I’m preparing a series of letters of the Watts and Hays families (1849-early 1900’s) in California and Missouri for a website. Many Boone descendents are mentioned in the letters and am collecting information for short biographies and family stories of people in this line. Hope to hear from some of you cousins.

Comments: Greetings, cousins,
My paternal grandmother is Melvina Boone Cron (b: 1890, d: 1962), daughter of Thomas Clark Boone of Butler County, Kansas, son of Cyrus Boone. My grandfather, Joseph M. Cron, is the son of Alpheus G. Cron and Emma F. Womer. Our Cron roots trace back to Sir John Cron who immigrated to New York from England in the 18th century. My great grandparents, Alpheus and Emma brought their family from Pennsylvania to Kansas in a covered wagon by way of the Dakota Territories (they decided they wanted to settle in Missouri, started south, and only made it as far as Kansas where they settled). I am interested in further developing information about my Boone forbearers and where I fit in the pecking order.

Comments: I am a descendant of Daniel Boone. His brother, Israel (who married a Seneca woman) had a son named Allen who married Ann Hardy and had a daughter, Martha, who married Thomas Kemble Edgemon of Athens, TN. Thomas and Martha were my great-grandparents. Their daughter Nancy Anne (my grandmother) married Zacariah Watson (of England) in Athens, TN. and one of their daughters, Nona Watson Bradfield, was my mother. My mother was a member of the Boone Historical Society which is at Daniel’s childhood home here in PA.
There is a plethora of Boone genaology facts to be found at the annual Edgemon reunion in Athens,TN on the third weekend of August. If you’re interested, let me know. Also, will be happy to join the Boone Society. Nancy Bradfield Aigeldinger

My grandfather was born in Somerdale, Ohio on 12/28/1890. If this info matches any of your ancestors, please contact me. Thank you and God bless.

I understand that Mary Bryan was a sister to Daniel Boone’s wife. Mary Bryan was married to Philip Bush, Father of Frances Bush and Captain Billy Bush. I was in the U.S. Air Force when I was stationed at Torrejon de Ardoz, Madrid, Spain from Jan. 1980 to Dec. 1982, and along side me for awhile was Tim Boone, who I understood to be related to Daniel Boone. Comments: The Black Family Ancestry goes back to 1801. As a desendant of John Black, The Youner or Jr., I have a rich heritage in the state of Kentucky and Mercer County, Ky. or Harrodsbutg. The issue of renamimg the Daniel Boone Parkway to Hal Rogers has created strong opposition within the state, and I certainly oppose this decision by the governor and transportation secretary. Hopefully, Mr. Rogers will request a reversal of this change to the naming of the parkway back to Daniel Boone Parkway.

Last years our congress & Senate descided that of Birth & death records in Kentucky should be locked away from the public.. They recirved thousands of letters a day and 4 to 5 ,000 on theinternet a week telling them to remember they were up for election and it stopped dead still.. We need to do this again

Comments: I am glad to find Daniel Boone society. But can you only become a member if you are related to directly to Daniel. Our connections are from his older sister Sarah Boone who was married to John Wilcoxson. Who’s daughter Sarah married Rynald Walker in North Carolina. Who’s daughter Mary “Polly” Walker married Moses Gatliff. Moses Gatliff father was Charles Gatliff another earlier Kentucky settler and Indian fighter. I recently purchased a new book Daniel Boone, by John Mack Faragher, with Daniel’s picture on the front cover. When you place my father’s picture side by side, they have so much in common. They look so much alike. The same long face, with high cheek bones, curly hair, thin lips, eye brows, blue eyes. I myself have the same nose as does my daughter. My father is still alive and living in Oklahoma City. He is 85 years old.

Comments: I have heard that the Boone family was related to the Bryants from Kentucky. Is that true? I am looking for the roots of my GGG Grandmother, Charlotte [Lottie] Bryant Little who was born in Kentucky. I don’t know where but she lived most of her married life in Morgan/Wolfe Co., Ky. in the Lacy Creek area and rode to the postoffice in Hazlegreen to get her mail. She was born in 1808. She was married to the Rev. Charles Little and had 21 children with him. I would like to know who her parents and siblings were. I know this is a long shot but was hoping that maybe someone would be familiar with the Bryants from Kentucky if they were related to the Boone’s. Thanks, Jane

Comments: Searching for roots would be a lot easier for the decendents of George & Mary if their ancestors had fewer children and had been more creative in naming them instead of repeating the names of George & Mary’s children for the next umpteen generations !!
In my case, the search took about 15 minutes to take it back to George & Mary. My Grandfather was in the Hazel Spraker book and it was all traced back from him. I am decended from George & Mary’s youngest son, Samuel. Samuel I – Samuel II – George Washington Boone – Robert G. Boone – Robert M. Boone – Robert M. Boone II – John Boone (me). While our branch are not direct descendents of Daniel, there is a close connection because Daniel’s brother Squire was apprenticed to his cousin, Samuel II who was a munitions manufacturer during the revolutionary war. After the war Samuel’s family traveled with Daniel and Squire to Kentuckey and Indiana. I would like to hear from any other decendents of Samuel I.

My 4xgreat-grandfather was Squire Boone 1760- 1817. He died in Allensville, Ky. Is there a marker there? If not, does anyone know the location? I would like to see that a Revolutionary War marker is placed for him. Reverend Isaiah H. Boone(1802-1835), son of Squire Boone and Anna Grubbs, married Patsey Martin 02 January, 1823(from Yates, Shelton, Boone Bible, now destroyed.License found in Christian Co.KY, for 28 December, 1822.(no marriage return found.) Comments: Hi, I’ll try to respond to a few of the latest posts all at once…..
Edmon: We would love to have your wife’s lineage back to Joe J. Boone, born in 1874 NC, if possible. I don’t have anything in my database for him with only that information, but with a few more facts, I may be able to find something. We can also put a query in the next issue of The Compass Newsletter, if you wish. Sherry: Hopefully, someone will have some information on your line and we would be more than happy to put your query in the next issue of The Compass, too. Earle: If you can send me as many Boone ancestors as you have documented, I’ll check into my source books and database to see if I have any of them listed. Also, we have a Boone DNA Testing Project that is on-going. If you’d like to check out the website at http://members.tripod.com/dellariola you’ll see what great progress we’re making. We already have several different Boone lines ‘established’, and it’s possible that your Y-DNA might match up with one of those. The Boone DNA project tests the Y-chromosome of the males. Since only males have the y-chromosome, this project is open only to males with the surname Boon/e, Bohun, de Boon, LaBoone, Bohn and variant spellings. Thanks, Dell
